Lesotho Women Show Fighting Spirit Despite Tough Results
The Lesotho senior women’s cricket team continues to show signs of growth and determination despite facing challenging results in their recent matches.
On 10 April 2026, Lesotho suffered a 9-wicket defeat to Malawi after being bowled out for 40 runs in 17.4 overs. Malawi chased down the target comfortably, finishing on 41/1 in just 7.3 overs.
The team also faced a tough outing against Brazil, where Lesotho was bowled out for 13 runs in 6.2 overs, with Brazil securing a commanding 189-run victory after posting a strong total of 202/8 in their innings.
Despite the setbacks, Lesotho Cricket Association (LCA) Media Liaison Officer, Dr Clifford Molefe, remains optimistic about the team’s progress.
“There is clear growth in the women’s team every time they take to the field. While the results may not yet reflect it, the improvement in attitude, discipline, and exposure at this level is encouraging,” said Molefe.
He added that the team is taking valuable lessons from each match. “There are important lessons learned from these games, and the technical team, led by the coach Alex Mavhiko, will work on these areas as we prepare for upcoming competitions.”
Lesotho is set to continue their campaign with another fixture against Zambia, where they will look to apply the lessons learned and improve their performance.
The LCA remains committed to developing women’s cricket and building a competitive team for the future.
